"It's Great!"

Summer GIFT (Generations in Faith Together) is a Vacation Bible School-esque event for people of all ages - yes, even you, adults! And we'll be together. This summer we're exploring the Great Commandment, the Great Question (who do you say that I am), and the Great Answer (to be revealed later!). From July 13 to July 18, we will meet every day for dinner at 5:30 and a mission project; then we'll have worship and learning together through music, Bible, story, art and more; after that we'll break into small groups for sharing, discussion, prayer, and a project; finally, we'll gather for closing sharing and worship.

We're using VolunteerSpot (the leading online Sign-up and reminder tool) to organize our upcoming Sign-ups.

Good news: You will NOT need to register an account or keep a password on VolunteerSpot. AND you will be reminded via email of your participation in Summer GIFT.

Here's how you sign up:

1) Click this link to go to our sign-up at VolunteerSpot

2) Review the options listed and choose the days that you will be coming to Summer GIFT.

3) If other people will be coming with you, click the plus sign below the "My Spots" box to tell us whether to expect 2,3,4 or more people.

4) In the comment box please inform us of any food allergies or pertinent health issues. You only need to do this once on the first day. We'll take it from there.

NOTE: VolunteerSpot does NOT share your email address with anyone. If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact me and I can sign you up manually.

This year ten youth and four chaperones will be going to San Diego, CA from August 2-7 to work at a soup kitchen, clothing cupboard, or other agency that serves the poor of that city.

Naturally, this is an expensive trip - we only take one of those every 3-5 years because of the cost. While the youth group has done fund-raisers and we've received a few donations, but we could still use extra help.

Would you be interested in "adopting" a person in mission? It costs $279 for the mission trip itself (through YouthWorks this year) and $550 a person for round trip airfare. We are fortunate that three people paid for the trip and their airfare up front. And Melissa received a donation for her airfare. Any amount you donate would be greatly appreciated!

Now here's the kicker. When they return, our stalwart missioners will give back to you as their way of saying thanks! They'd be willing to mow your lawn, rake your leaves, vacuum your house, bake cookies or a cake, make a dinner, or do a service project to honor you - like visiting a nursing home or helping stock shelves at CUMAC.

Just download the donation form here or at the FUMC Facebook page, or pick up a form in the Family Room at church.

Thanks for your help!
